What you will need:

  1. A5 card* in cream;
  2. A sheet of stripy scrapbook paper, I used a 12x12in sheet called “Sugar Cubes” from the Tea for Two collection by Cosmo Cricket;
  3. Double-sided sticky tape*;
  4. A flower embellishment, I used one by Petaloo;
  5. Tiny alphabet stickers*;
  6. Foam pads*;
  7. Rounded corner punch – not strictly necessary but adds a nice finish.

The materials you will need to complete a stripey card with flower embellishment

One side of the Sugar Cubes paper is just border strips so I decided to use these to decorate the card.

Step 1

Cut the paper to size and separated the different strips so that I could pick and choose which borders I wanted to use.  After choosing the top and bottom borders, I used a rounded corner punch to shape two corners on each.

I didn’t want to use all of the borders so I put two of them aside for another project (this paper is too nice to throw away!).  One of the borders had some lovely shapes that I thought could be used as a topper for my sentiments.

Step 2

Using double sided sticky tape I attached the borders to the card leaving a small gap between each border.  I cut around my topper and used the tiny alphabet to add the words “for you MUM” to my topper.  You could, of course, use a stamp or even handwrite your sentiment for a more personal touch.

Step 3

The topper was attached to the card using foam pads to make it stand out a bit more, I centred it towards the top of the card and then positioned the flower so that it slightly overlapped the topper.

I’ve left the card as it is but you could always add an insert to finish it off.
